The children have really been enjoying their developing friendships and stretching their imaginations. We’ve been playing with rhyming words and looking for signs of spring. The children really love sharing their ideas at circle time and practicing writing and drawing. They have all grown so much since the beginning of the school year!
April is a short month, but we have a lot going on! Spring break is April 1-5! There will be no school that week. Hopefully the weather will be beautiful and we can all get outside and enjoy the spring!
Next year’s registration forms were in cubbies last week. Please have your form back by April 9th with the $50 registration fee to hold a spot for your child. You can wait until June to pay the tuition deposit. TCNS will be having an Open House on Wednesday, April 17th at 6:30 pm. for new children and families. Please pass the word along to anyone who might be interested.
Fundraising: Kristin Parry has organized a craft sale on Saturday April 20th to benefit TCNS. If you know anyone who would be interested in a table, please let Kristin know. There will be a TCNS craft table for any parent crafters who would like to sell. We’ll also be doing a bake sale and are asking each family to bake something for that.
Our next parent meeting will be Tuesday, April 24th from 6:30-7:30. We’ll go over the results of the parent survey and Jackie and I will share some information from the NAEYC conference we’re attending.
April Activities: this month we’ll be talking about the weather some more, plus birds and baby animals. We’ll continue to graph the weather and compare April to March. We’ll start the month by reading Tillie Lays an Egg, by Terry Golson. This is a sweet story about a baby chicken who’s afraid of leaving his egg. We’ll talk about eggs, which animals lay eggs, and do eggshell experiments. We haven’t chosen all the books for this month, but we’ll continue to explore the signs of spring and talk about our five senses. We will do wallpaper vases and a spring tree collages.
Terrific Two’s: April will bring many exciting changes outside and inside. Spring is happily here and we are exploring all the changes around us and within our children. We will have fun learning about what animals live on the farm with Old Mac Donald. Expect to see and hear many farm animals coming home.
Five little duckies went swimming one day, over the pond and far away
Mama duck said, “Quack, quack, quack!”
But only four little duckies came back.
Four little duckies went swimming one day….
Three little duckies….
Two little duckies…
One little ducky went swimming one day, over the pond and far away
Daddy duck said, “QUACK, QUACK, QUACK!”
And all five little duckies came swimming right back.
