Welcome November! We will introduce themes on families and being thankful. We will continue to talk about fall and the changes all around us. We’re coming into the holiday season and we have some pretty active classes at TCNS. So far we’ve been very lucky with the weather and have gotten outside almost every day. As the temperature turns chilly, please be sure to send your child with warm outdoor clothing. Warm jackets and boots, even mittens and snow pants are a good idea as it becomes colder!
Fundraising: Fun with Santa is fast approaching! The list of past silent auction donors is at the top of the stairs. Please sign up to approach businesses. We’re asking each family to get 2 donations – a donation of your own talents is also welcome. The silent auction committee is asking to have all donations in before Thanksgiving. That will give the group plenty of time to organize! We’re going to try opening the auction on Friday evening for an hour to preview and start bidding. Thanks to our parents working on the Gemm Shop fundraiser and all the people who’ve donated!
Dates to Remember:
November 5th will be our parent meeting starting at 6pm with pizza. Children are welcome. It’s a chance to talk other parents and teachers and ask questions. Amy is planning to share some ideas for saving all that artwork that’s been coming home!
There is no School on November 10th – 11th for Veterans Day and November 26th to 28th for Thanksgiving break.
Scholastic orders are due Friday November 14th. They should be here in time for Thanksgiving. This is a great chance to get stocking stuffers and holiday gifts.
Preschool classes: This month we will be reading Road Builders by BG Hennessy, The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams, Feeling Thankful by Shelley Rotner, and Bear Says Thanks by Karma Wilson. We’ll continue to practice name recognition, cutting and gluing, make scarecrows, placemats, and pumpkin pie!
This month we will start Friend of the week –. watch the calendar for your child’s turn! Each student will bring in 6-8 photos to share with the class at circle time. I will also be offering “mini-conferences” for anyone who would like the opportunity to touch base. Look to sign-up for a time after school on November 18-21. We can also meet anytime; on your parent helper day, before or after school. Just let us know.
Terrific Twos: Our circle times are expanding to name recognition and seasonal songs. Our circle time books will include: Train Ride by June Crebbin, Owl Babies by Martin Waddell, and Feeling Thankful by Shelly Rotner. We will be adding oatmeal to our sensory table. And we are planning on baking cornbread for snack just before Thanksgiving. Painting has become a classroom favorite as well as markers and crayons and glue! Thanks for sharing your kids with us! Jack Frost tapped at the windowpane
He knocked at the door with his icicle cane
Excuse me I said, but the door’s shut tight
I’d rather you not come in tonight
So he wrote his name all over the glass
And the children sneezed “Achooo!”
As they heard him pass.
