FIELD TRIPS

Exploration in our community!

Building community is a large part of our focus at TCNS. Our preschool classes enjoy a variety of local field trips and hikes. Fortunately, our location in the heart of the Village of Trumansburg puts us within easy walking distance of many community organizations and business. We hike at Taughannock Falls State Park seasonally and regularly visit the Trumansburg library, fire station, police station, Juniper Manor, kindergarten, dentist, eye doctor, local restaurants, farms and orchards. Families frequently join us on these field trips.

We try to keep our program flexible. It includes the above field trips and special programs designed to enhance your child’s experiences. At times, parents will have to transport their children to field trip sites and the daily schedule may change depending on the trip. The director will provide directions and times for all such trips. Parents are encouraged to share their vocations/avocations with the children at TCNS throughout the year.

Field trips help develop social skills, foster a sense of community, and provide sensory-rich experiences that are critical for cognitive and emotional development. By interacting with the world around them, preschoolers can build connections to real-life experiences, promoting a deeper understanding of the world and enhancing their overall learning journey.
